Description

Juicy steak sliders topped with cowboy butter and caramelized onions, perfect for gatherings and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless steak (ribeye, filet, or sirloin)
  • Neutral oil (as needed)
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
  • 3 sweet onions (thinly sliced)
  • 9 slider buns
  • 3/4 pound sliced havarti cheese
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/2 lemon (zested and juiced)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chives (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (minced)
  • Kosher salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over high heat.
  2. Cook the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until desired doneness is reached.
  3. Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium-low and add sliced sweet onions. Cook until caramelized and golden brown for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Slice the rested steaks against the grain.
  6. Assemble the sliders by placing a portion of sliced steak on each slider bun, adding a slice of havarti cheese, a dollop of cowboy butter, and topping with the caramelized onions.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

Consider adding herbs or spices to the cowboy butter for a personalized taste. Use leftovers in salads or wraps.
