Description
A lighter spin on classic lasagna, filled with layers of creamy cottage and ricotta cheese, savory sausage, and rich marinara.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the ground sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until al dente, then drain.
- Layer a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
- Lay three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Add half of the cottage cheese and half of the ricotta cheese on top of the noodles.
- Sprinkle a third of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the cheese mixture.
- Repeat the layering process with another layer of sauce, noodles, and cheeses.
- Place the last three lasagna noodles on top and cover with remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese bubbles and turns golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to customize with sautéed vegetables or substitute ground sausage for lean turkey.
