Description

Crispy edges and fluffy interiors characterize these delightful cornbread waffle bites served with a sweet honey butter syrup.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornbread mix
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cornbread mix, buttermilk, and egg until smooth.
  2. Fold in cheddar cheese and bacon if desired.
  3. Preheat mini waffle maker and lightly grease it.
  4. Add about 1 tablespoon of batter to each section of the waffle maker.
  5. Close the lid and cook for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Repeat with remaining batter.
  7. For syrup, combine honey, butter, and maple syrup in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  8. Drizzle honey butter syrup over waffle bites before serving.

Notes

Consider adding fresh herbs or spices for different flavors. Leftover waffle bites can be frozen for later enjoyment.
