Description

A delightful homemade cinnamon swirl bread that fills your kitchen with warmth and a comforting aroma.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar


Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk with 1 tablespoon of sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Allow it to foam for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Create a well, then add melted butter, eggs, and the foamed yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle. Spread a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon over it, then roll it up tightly.
  6. Transfer to a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

For an enhanced flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract. Pair with fruit preserves or cream cheese for serving.
