Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm milk with 1 tablespoon of sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Allow it to foam for 5-10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Create a well, then add melted butter, eggs, and the foamed yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle. Spread a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon over it, then roll it up tightly.
- Transfer to a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
Notes
For an enhanced flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract. Pair with fruit preserves or cream cheese for serving.
