Delicious chocolate coconut bars with a rich creamy texture and crunchy toasted coconut, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups fine graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, separated
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8″x8″ baking dish.
- Stir together the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture into the baking dish, pressing firmly to form an even layer.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt across the top.
- Scatter the chocolate chips over the condensed milk, followed by the coconut flakes.
- Press the toppings gently into the condensed milk with a fork.
- Bake for 28-30 minutes until the coconut turns golden-brown.
- Remove from the oven and run a knife along the edges.
- Cool completely for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Cut into 12 bars or 16 squares, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
For a crispy texture, consider toasting the coconut flakes before adding them on top.
