Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, water, and sugar. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Gradually add in flour, salt, and softened butter until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in size (about 4-6 hours).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and fold it into layers like a croissant.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips in between the layers and fold again.
  7. Shape into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Let rise for another 1-2 hours.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool before slicing and enjoy!
