Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups flour
- 1/3 cup good quality cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¾ cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar (packed)
- 1 ounce unsweetened baker’s chocolate (melted)
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh cherries, chopped
- ¼ cup cream cheese
- ¼ cup butter (for frosting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 2 ½ cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9×9 baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the brown sugar, melted chocolate, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until well combined. Fold in the chopped cherries.
- Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before frosting.
Notes
Use high-quality chocolate and cherries for the best flavor. Allow the brownies to cool completely before adding the frosting to prevent it from melting.
