Description

Delightful bite-sized appetizers made with a rich cheese filling and topped with spicy hot pepper jelly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/3 cup hot pepper jelly
  • Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and softened butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour, salt, and optional garlic powder; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, keeping them 2 inches apart.
  8. Use your thumb to press a small indentation into the center of each ball.
  9. Fill each indentation with 1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper jelly.
  10. Bake for 13–15 minutes or until golden.
  11. Allow the appetizers to cool slightly before garnishing with fresh herbs.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Chilling the dough ensures the cookies maintain their shape during baking. Experiment with garnishes for unique flavors.
