Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds (680 g) beef sirloin steak sliced into thin strips
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) steak seasoning (such as McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup (240 ml) sliced green peppers
- 1 cup (240 ml) mushrooms
- 1 cup (240 ml) onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 oz (57 g) cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup (50 g) shredded Parmesan cheese
- 4-5 slices provolone cheese sliced into small pieces
Instructions
- Watch the video above for detailed guidance.
- Set your oven to 350 degrees to preheat.
- Place the sirloin strips in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season with steak seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes, turning the meat so both sides cook.
- Add the green peppers, onions, garlic, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables soften and the steak is no longer pink.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet to prevent a watery casserole. This step is crucial.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cream cheese. Mix until the cream cheese is fully melted.
- Take the skillet off the heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, Parmesan cheese, and heavy whipping cream.
- Lightly coat an 8 x 11 or 9×9 baking dish with oil or cooking spray. Spread the steak and vegetable mixture evenly in the dish.
- Pour the egg and cheese mixture over the top. Arrange the provolone cheese pieces on the surface.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese starts to bubble. Mine was done in about 18 minutes.
- Let it cool before serving.
Notes
- Consider marinating the beef strips in Worcestershire sauce for 30 minutes before cooking for a more robust flavor.
- Avoid overcrowding the skillet when cooking the beef and vegetables to ensure even cooking and a nice sear.
- Enhance the casserole’s flavor by using a variety of mushrooms like cremini or shiitake.
