Description

A delightful breakfast casserole combining savory cheddar biscuits, fluffy eggs, and crispy turkey bacon.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 strips turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add the cubed cold butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, then gradually add buttermilk, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Stir in the crumbled turkey bacon.
  6. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spoon dollops of the biscuit dough evenly across the bottom.
  7. Pour the egg mixture over the biscuit dough, allowing it to seep between the biscuits.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Let the casserole cool slightly before serving for easier slicing. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
