Cajun spiced chicken wings that are crispy, flavorful, and perfect for gatherings or family dinners. A delightful balance of spices and tenderness.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds split chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 3 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons butter (or vegan butter, or ghee for Paleo/Whole30)
- ¼ cup Crystal’s hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
- Freshly chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F and adjust the rack to the upper-middle position. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top, spraying it with non-stick cooking spray.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels and place them in a large bowl.
- Add baking powder, kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, and thyme. Toss until evenly coated.
- Arrange seasoned wings in a single layer on the wire rack, skin side up. Bake for 20 minutes.
- Flip the wings and bake for another 20 minutes. Then flip back to skin side up and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until crispy and cooked through.
- While wings bake, melt butter in a saucepan, add Crystal’s hot sauce and coconut aminos, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl, pour the sauce over them, and toss to coat. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can broil the wings for a minute or two at the end. Adjust the cayenne pepper for desired heat level.
