Description
A rich and flavorful Cajun cream sauce that adds warmth and excitement to any dish.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup onion, finely chopped
- ½ cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ to 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup chicken broth (or veggie broth)
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the finely chopped onion and green bell pepper. Stir until softened.
- Toss in the minced garlic and Cajun seasoning, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in the all-purpose flour, stirring for about a minute to eliminate raw flour taste.
- Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream, mixing until combined.
- Allow the mixture to bubble gently, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley until melted and smooth.
- Taste the sauce, adding salt and pepper as desired.
Notes
For variations, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor.
