Description

A rich and flavorful Cajun cream sauce that adds warmth and excitement to any dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1½ to 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or veggie broth)
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and green bell pepper. Stir until softened.
  3. Toss in the minced garlic and Cajun seasoning, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle in the all-purpose flour, stirring for about a minute to eliminate raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream, mixing until combined.
  6. Allow the mixture to bubble gently, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley until melted and smooth.
  8. Taste the sauce, adding salt and pepper as desired.

Notes

For variations, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor.
