Description

Delight in the fusion of flaky croissants filled with rich vanilla pastry cream, all topped with a glossy chocolate glaze.

Ingredients

  • Croissants (store-bought or homemade)
  • Vanilla pastry cream:
    • 2 cups milk
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Chocolate glaze:
    • 4 ounces chocolate
    • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the vanilla pastry cream by whisking together milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened. Let it cool completely.
  3. If using store-bought croissants, slice them in half. If making from scratch, prepare the croissant dough and shape it into croissants.
  4. Fill each croissant with the cooled pastry cream.
  5. For the chocolate glaze, melt chocolate with a bit of butter until smooth.
  6. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the filled croissants.
  7. Serve immediately or chill for a more set cream.

Notes

Consider making your pastry cream ahead of time to allow it to cool completely. Experiment with different chocolate flavors for the glaze.
