Transform your leftover sourdough starter into delightful cinnamon rolls that are soft, fluffy, and filled with buttery sweetness.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup raisins or nuts (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)
- Icing (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Stir until smooth and uniformly mixed.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until you achieve a soft dough. Adjust flour amount if necessary.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
- Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Optionally fold in raisins or nuts.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into individual rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Optional: Drizzle icing over the rolls before serving.
