Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups (300 ml) whole milk, warmed to about 110 degrees
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp granulated white sugar (to bloom the yeast)
- 4 3/4 cups (593 g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated white sugar
- 2 eggs, whisked
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (112 g) unsalted butter, very softened
- 1 cup (220 g) light brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt (for filling)
- 1/3 cup (116 g) honey
- 1/2 tbsp vanilla (for drizzle)
Instructions
- Warm the milk and sprinkle yeast and sugar into it; let it bloom for about 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Combine the bloomed yeast with the flour mixture, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla to create a sticky dough.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let it rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size, which takes about 1-2 hours.
- After rising, roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl. Spread this mixture over the rolled-out dough.
- Drizzle honey and melted butter over the filling, then roll the dough into a cylinder.
- Cut the rolled dough into equal sections. Place the sections in a greased baking dish, ensuring they fit snugly.
- Allow the rolls to rise again for about 30-45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) during this time.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Frost with cream cheese frosting after baking and enjoy.
Notes
For perfect cinnamon rolls, ensure your yeast is fresh and properly activated. Let the dough rise adequately for the best texture.
