Description
A comforting dish that combines hearty ground beef with orzo pasta in a rich, creamy tomato sauce, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and ground beef, cooking until the beef is browned.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the orzo and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
- Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for another few minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
Notes
For added texture, consider tossing in baby spinach or other vegetables during the last few minutes of cooking. If the sauce is too thin, let it simmer longer; if too thick, add a splash of beef broth.
