Description

Discover how to make a delicious Apple Walnut Quinoa Breakfast Bake that’s perfect for starting your day right. Easy recipe for a healthy breakfast option!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) uncooked Quinoa
  • 1 Apple of choice, cored and diced
  • 2 1/2 cups (590 ml) Water
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) Maple Syrup or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup (80 g) Walnut Halves, optional
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Raw Cacao Nibs, optional

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash the quinoa with hot water to eliminate impurities and bitterness.
  2. Cut your preferred apple into small pieces.
  3. Combine quinoa, half of the chopped apple, and water in a small pot. Heat uncovered on medium-high until it starts to boil. Lower the heat and let it cook gently for 15-20 minutes, stirring now and then, until most of the water is absorbed. Take the pot off the heat.
  4. Mix the cooked quinoa with maple syrup and cinnamon.
  5. Split the quinoa into two servings and garnish with the rest of the diced apple, walnuts, and cacao nibs.

Notes

  • Toast walnuts in a dry pan for extra crunch before adding to the dish.
  • Experiment with various apple types to achieve the desired balance of sweetness and tartness.
  • Adjust maple syrup quantity according to preferred level of sweetness.
