Description

Apple Pie Bombs bring the comforting flavors of classic apple pie into portable, bite-sized treats with a flaky exterior and a warm, gooey filling.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add diced apples, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to soften.
  3. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to form a slurry. Add this to the apple mixture and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until the filling thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Separate the biscuit dough into individual biscuits and flatten each to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the apple filling in the center of each flattened biscuit. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal completely.
  7. Dip each dough ball into the melted butter, then roll in a mixture of 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon.
  8. Place the coated dough balls seam-side down on the lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.

Notes

Use fresh apples like Granny Smith for a tart flavor. Adjust sugar based on your taste preference and consider adding spices like nutmeg for depth.
