Description

A delightful loaf that combines the goodness of apples with sweet cinnamon, capturing the essence of classic apple fritters.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for sprinkling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
  4. Gently combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together, then sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter.
  8. Pour the remaining batter into the pan and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  9. Use a knife to swirl through the batter, creating a marbled effect on the surface.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.

Notes

Use fresh, crisp apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp for the best flavor. Consider adding nutmeg or nuts for extra flavor and texture.
