Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (or lamb)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Add onion, carrots, and garlic, cooking until the vegetables are soft.
- Stir in the peas, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the meat mixture into a baking dish.
- Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, smoothing out the top.
- Sprinkle cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a crispy topping, create ridges in the mashed potatoes before baking. You can also add other vegetables like corn or bell peppers for variation.
