Ingredients
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, sift together the cake flour and half of the sugar, making sure there are no lumps.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar and salt until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the remaining sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in the flour mixture, vanilla, and almond extract.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased tube pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cake is golden and springs back when touched.
- Invert the cake to cool completely before removing it from the pan.
